Magnolia Chapter 23

For those of you who hate Hugo, this chapter is going to suck. I love Hugo, so I thought this was a very romantic chapter. Hahaha! Unfortunately, we are left at the end with a nasty cliff hanger and the cruel news that the mangaka are skipping the next issue in order to collect material to continue the series.  But! Lily chapter 4 is coming out in Itan on the 25th, so we will have a Magnolia related chapter in July!  Hooray! That should ease the pain of waiting.

On to the release!

OS News!
We are working out plans for the next 6 months.  Since one-shots are popular with readers and the group members we are going move to a schedule format that alternates monthly between series focus and one-shot focus.  Regardless, each month we will release a chapter of Magnolia/Lily, AnS (starting in Septemeber, unless it gets licensed), and Rex Fabula.  The rest will be variable. This way we should be able to integrate the color Lalas and the other one-shots we've been wanting to do, while keeping up with our series.

I will be announcing the one-shot themes soon, along with other plans as they come together.

Next up! Will be one-shots from Kuro Lala and Shiro Lala and the first chapter of the short series "Pochama ni".

"Magnolia" Chp 22

Update:  If you are having problems viewing this file, please upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 8 or above).  Just this once, I have re-crunched the file so it is compatible with version 6 and above.  If you are using some other PDF reader, all bets are off moving forward. This is the last time I will crunch a file to be viewed by an ancient version of Acrobat.

This seems like a bridge chapter to the next story arc.  Not much new is revealed in this chapter, but it's necessary to cement some of the ideas introduced in the last chapter.  The end of the chapter, though is pretty significant.  The question for me is whether what happened means that Ayato has accepted matters and has decided to be pro-active.  And what about Hugo? I'm gonna be so mad if he rips Ayato's heart out. Well, we'll know his initial reaction in a week or so.

Anyhow...onto the link!

Next up!  I'm gonna try to get AnS Chp 34 out before the end of the month.  I can't guarantee it though. MIB3 is waiting for me.

Reminders!
  • Omari's Sister is in great need of cleaners who can also do advanced level cloning and redrawing.
  • Please buy my magazine goodies and lightly used manga!  There's lots of great books and items for sale!  (Link)
  • I'm taking pre-orders for Aoi Lala.  Information is here (Link)

"Magnolia" Chapter 21

At last we make a big move in the story! And Nagi's suffering intensifies. Poor, poor Nagi.  Hmm...what's Vincent up to? I haven't decided whether he's suspicious or not. So far he seems like a really nice but tragic figure.

Thanks to Ichi for some great redraws :)

And now onto the links!

Link to "Magnolia" Chp 21:  (PDF)

Next up is a special Spring one-shot.  This one-shot kinda goes against the kind of story we like to do at Omari's Sister, but I couldn't past up the story and the art.

Oh! And please support Omari's Sister by purchasing some of my lightly used manga and magazine goodies.  There is lots of wonderful stuff left!  Take a look!

"Magnolia" Chapter 20

Shame on you proofreaders for making Ichi waiting after she tireless cleaned, scrubbed, and redrew this entire chapter!  The poor girl had to look at this juicy chapter and see things she couldn't unsee without knowing what the hell these shocking events actually were! Hahaha!  Thanks proofreaders for finally pitching in :).  I know you all had St. Patrick's Day parties to go to and you're all bleary-eyed from too many shamrock shakes.

AUGH!!! This chapter!!!  Naked Ape you are killing me with goodness!!!  Many thanks for this wonderful series!  Unfortunately, I can't say much about this chapter without spoiling it.  I shall wait a day or two and hopefully there will be some good comments to respond to.

Okay, onto the link!

Next up is a double release of "Yukarism" chapter 10 and 11!

"Magnolia" Chapter 19

Nagi's taking off the gloves...hee!  I think "Lost Lamb" describes Nagi's situation in this chapter more than "beast".  Hahaha!  This chapter is such a tease!  Still it's fun to see Nagi suffer sweetly.  He makes a great martyr.

This chapter ends the Tea Party arc.  I suppose in  the next chapter we'll get to see what happens the night after the tea party or the next day after the tea party.  Personally, I think it's time for some Ayato x Nagi time.  Ayato needs to have a heart-to-heart with somebody.  In the end, I'd say that outside of family, Nagi is Ayato's best friend.  Nagi will listen.

Next up!  The Nari Kusakawa one-shot and a double release of the last two chapters of "Seirei Produce".

Hugo Poll

Love him or hate him, Hugo is an interesting character.  Is he Ayato's friend, enemy, or both?  Seriously, what IS his deal?  Personally, I think he's there on a specific mission, but I don't think things are going as planned -- though, I admit I have no idea what his mission is.  I think Hugo is getting a little side-track because, regardless of the Magnolia smell, he likes Ayato.

I look forward to the development of Hugo's character.  Will someone eventually take him down a couple of notches?  Will Ayato eventually wrap him around his/her finger?  Or will he be a damned-dirty-dog forever?

What do you think?  Take the poll in the right hand column.  If you want to rant positively or negatively, please leave a comment.  Go all out!  Let's talk about Hugo :).

"Magnolia" Chp 18

First if of all, I must say Naked Ape does some of the loveliest cover and title page art out there.  I'm always excited when they have color pages.  I really wish they would release a Magnolia calendar.  I really like the colors on this illustration.  The composition really brings out the green of Ayato's eyes.
We continue with the tea party in this chapter.  A warning to Hugo haters:  you are going to want to put your fist through your monitor before the end of this chapter.  Hugo is especially dog-like...well, more like a male slut.  He's a terrible guy to fall for and I feel bad for Ayato.  But...it's not like they're going out, so I guess Hugo can do as he pleases.  But still...seriously?  I guess this kind of behavior is what makes Hugo is a delicious character. It's amazing how he acts like he doesn't know why Ayato's upset.  Ugh... it makes me want to start a rant on men.

Onto the links!

Next up is "Datara no Mousouryoku Opera", a new 62 page one-shot from Bisco Hatori.  It should be released by the end of next week.

"Magnolia" Chapter 17

First a little shameless plug to encourage you all to give the mangaka money for this manga series by purchasing the books.  Volume 3 (Chapters 10 - 16) has just been released and it has a beautiful drawing of Nagi on the cover and the full drawing of Nagi on the first inside page.  There's also a drama CD available.

Here are some links to purchase!

Amazon Japan via Naked Ape's Amazon Storefront:
(Volume 3 only) (Volume 3 + Drama CD)

Yes Asia:
(Volume 3) (Volume 3 + Drama CD)

Since I didn't know Volume 3 came with the Drama CD, I have an extra copy of volume 3 available for purchase for $12.  If you would like to buy the book off of me, please send me an e-mail via the contact link in main menu of this blog.

Okay and now onto the release!
---------------------------------
I'm not sure what's going on this drawing, but I'm quite sure Hugo is up to no good.  Unfortunately, nothing like this happens in the chapter.  I felt a little cheated because this is exactly the kind of crap I would expect Hugo to pull to get Ayato alone and undressed.  Ahem...Ah...but there's plenty of tea party left for this scenario to happen.

When I first got this chapter, I had to put it down for a while because the drawings of Sui were way too creepy.  My heart couldn't stand the idea of making Sui into a completely frightening psycho.  After doing the translation, though, I saw matters were different than they appeared from just looking at the drawings alone.  I have no doubt that Sui is bonkers, but I don't think he'd focus that bonkers tendency into action without very good cause.  I think in the case of this chapter, Robert Black has been effectively silenced and scared sh**less.  I don't think this technique will work on Hugo, though, I'm sure there are some fujoshi out there imagining the confrontation now...eww...

There is a big revelation in this chapter and I'm not surprised since this is a common practice in Japan.  It's paves the way for Ayato x Sui without the ick factor.  Hahaha!!!  Poor Hugo, though.  I have no idea how he can get through the Sui-wall.  There's no doubt that Sui is a killer.  Ah, the excitement ...and then the chapter ends.  Boo!!!!  But rejoice!  The next chapter is coming in 2 or 3 weeks, so the wait won't be that bad.

Onto the link!

Link to Magnolia chapter 17:  (PDF)

Up Next:  I have no idea.  Lots of releases are almost done.  Most of it depends on when I get the typesetting or the redraws back.

Magnolia Chapter 16

"Magnolia" chapters continue to get shorter.  Part of me wishes Naked Ape would go on hiatus with "Magnolia" so they can concentrate on finishing "Dolls".  The way things are now really isn't fair to "Magnolia".   I don't like the trickling pace and I don't like seeing and sometimes having to fix the many little errors in the artwork that I imagine are due to being rushed.

That said, this chapter is pretty entertaining and I like Ayato's casual outfit.  In the background, though, I think events are starting to get repetitive with respect to Hugo popping up wherever Ayato is...not to say that I didn't expect Hugo to be at the tea party.  Of course he's gonna show up at the tea party.  I just hope it isn't the usual let's stare at each other at the beginning and then ignore each other for the rest of the party.  For goodness sake, let them be in love and let's get this over with so we can move on with impact of Ayato becoming a full-fledged female.  I'm getting bored with the Ayato/Hugo cat-and-mouse game.  Nagi must suffer the agony of pretty Ayato with breasts!  Will he still be able to be Ayato's personal servant after that?  And how will Sui react to "Big Sister"?  AUGH!!!  Let's go! Let's go!

And now the link to Magnolia chapter 16: (PDF)

"Magnolia" Chapter 15

 *Runs forward*

What a nice title page!  This page makes me want to have a Magnolia calendar for 2012.  That would be soooooo nice.

Anyhow...and now this announcement.  Magnolia volume 3 will come out on December 7th and there will be two versions.  One version is the book alone and the other version will include a drama CD along with the book.  I don't know whether I will be getting the drama CD.  To be honest, don't really understand the point of drama CDs.  I'd rather have a calendar. CALENDAR!!!  Hear my pleas Naked Ape.  CALENDAR!!!
All righty!  Now onto the chapter!

My Thoughts on the Chapter (Spoilers Ahead) --

Poor Ayato is having trouble adapting to change, but Nagi seems to be having even more trouble with it.  And...enter Hugo, who lays some truth on Nagi.  I wonder how much what Hugo said was for Ayato's benefit or his own?

Ayato is too cruel to all the guys around him/her.  I would feel sorry Hugo, but I know this is part his game.  Nagi, though...poor dear.  Hugo stomped all over his confidence.  So now what is Nagi going to do?  Is he going to be self conscious about how much he's sticks close to Ayato?  Will he give Ayato some space resulting in Ayato having an "adventure" or two?

I'm looking forward to the next chapter, but given the pacing of the story, will we even get to the tea party, or with the tea party encompass the whole of volume 4? I guess we'll have to wait and see.  My feeling is the next chapter will deal with Ayato apologizing to Lily and end with the Ayato, Sui, and Lily heading over to the tea party.

Next up with be either AnS chapter 26 or Yukarism chapter 8.

"Magnolia" Chapter 14

It's been such a long day!  At least I was productive, though,  feel like I'm dragging my sorry butt over the finish line and directly into bed.  I was sooooo hoping that this chapter would be longer than 30 pages, but, alas, "Magnolia" chapters keep getting shorter and shorter T_T.  This time there are only 23 pages and two of those pages are a title spread and one is repeat from chapter 13.  I guess the color pages took a long time to paint???  Okay, I'll admit the color pages are lovely and I am grateful for them.

Anyhow...there's been some flip-flopping on my part about the name of the country in this series.  Originally I had it as "Anastasia", but I ended up following the katakana directly and I'm now calling it "Anestachia".  I'm slowly going through the chapters and updating them with this correction.  I also made a small correction (more like an inclusion) to chapter one.  On page 15, Nagi states that Ayato is next in line for the throne after King Albert's little brother, who I assume is Vincent.  Yes...the plot thickens.  Though, after Ayato and Sui were born, wouldn't Vincent be third in line to the throne?  Hmm... maybe this is all wrapped up in the importance of Ayato's debut.

And now onto the link:
Link to Magnolia chapter 14: (PDF)

Spoiler Alert!  Spoilers Ahead!

It looks like Hugo character is getting toned down from "smash and grab" Hugo to "Sir Hug-a-lot" Hugo.  I prefer huggy-cuddly Hugo any day.  I'm glad Hugo decided to talk to Ayato in between his unstoppable urge to hug and nuzzle poor Ayato.  Ayato...hmm...he/she for a moment seemed perfectly happy to indulge him/herself in Hugo's arms.  Hahaha!  Poor Ayato is so confused and so confusing.

Thinking second thoughts about Vincent...is he trying to set Ayato up with a man to fall in love with?  And if he is, is he doing it out of malice?  Vincent doesn't strike me as the type who's interested in the throne.  He seems to be more wrapped up in his memories of Ayato's mother, Angela.

The two new people...please don't let them be annoying...
Next up!  *Bangs head*  I'm working on a one-shot for Bakeneko's Lair and the "Ouran" August special chapter.  The Ouran special chapter is taking a lot of time to clean due to Lala magazine's awful image quality and cumbersome redraws.  Anyhow...I hope to get the Ouran one-shot out before the end of next week.

A reminder: Follow our releases on Twitter @OmarissisterRel
Also catch the debuts "Rex Fabula" and "Servamp" at Bakeneko's Lair

Magnolia Chapter 13

Hmm...I wonder what happened between Lily and Arthur in the hall...I guess we won't know until late December T_T.  Anyhow, here's "Magnolia" chapter 14.  Finally! Another day!  I wonder how many chapters this day is going to last...heheheh... well at least this isn't as bad as "Skip Beat."  Anyhow...Nagi's suffering continues and Ayato is being forced to grow up.  Now I'm suffering as I wait for chapter 14. It sounds like chapter 14 may actually have more than 23 pages (PLEASE!!!  We need a nice 50-pages  PLEASE!!!).  Onto the link!

Spoiler Alert!  Spoilers Ahead!!
My Thoughts on the the Chapter
I wonder if Ayato and Hugo are heading out to Magnolia forest where they first met.  That would be nice because there would be some pretty pages to edit :). I'd also love for them to have another heart to heart conversation without Hugo going all "honey badger" on poor Ayato.  Show some restraint Hugo!

I have a sneaking suspicion about Ayato's muscle and joint pain.  I wonder whether the process of Ayato becoming a girl.  Hahaha!  You girls remember those days to painful "bee stings".

Next up!
Next up is Pika Ichi Chp 9!  Sorry for the delay.  We now have a wonderful translator, Amrai, for the series and she's cranking through the chapter to help us get caught up.  I'm still looking for an experienced and reliable typesetter for the series, so if you are interested, please send me an e-mail via the contact link in this blog's menu.

"Lily" Chapter 2 and "Magnolia" Chapter 12 Double Release

Because "Magnolia" chapter 12 is so short, I decided to release it along with Lily chapter 2.  This chapter of "Magnolia" appears to be the end of the "prologue", which hopefully means we can get into the meat of the story with the next chapter (though, it's not like things haven't been meaty enough).  "Lily" chapter 2 is a recap of "Magnolia" chapters 5 through chapter 9.  I guess that means volume 2 spans chapters 5 - 9.   Anyhow...here are the links:

Link to "Lily" Chapter 2: (PDF)

My thoughts on the chapter will be posted in the comments section so help those of you with wander eyes not to see spoilers.

Next up is "The Ghost Apartment Manager" chapter 6.

"Magnolia" Chapter 11

This chapter continues the Ayato and Sui story line.  It's a little creepy, but if you can keep your mind rather innocent it's rather sweet.  Hopefully, this is the real set-up for Sui vs. Hugo.  A little warning:  at the beginning there's a rather crude joke.  I had to do a double take.  I imagine, though, that the joke will fly right over some of your heads.  Anyhow, I tried my best with the translation to get the crude joke across.  And now for the links:

"Magnolia" chapter 11:  (Zip) (PDF -- Mobile and Tablets)

Spoiler Alert!  Spoilers Ahead:
The chapter seems to me to be a contrast against chapter 4 in which Ayato and Hugo dance at the ball.  It seems that Sui and Hugo have two different ways of approaching Ayato's self-confidence issue.  In this chapter we see Sui giving Ayato instructions and telling Ayato to believe in him/herself then lets Ayato try.  When learning to shoot a bow, Ayato at first falls a few times before he/she is able to do it.  In contrast, Hugo tells Ayato something similar about listening the music and then trusting his/her body to know what moves to make.  However, while dancing, Ayato realizes that Hugo is firmly in control of the dance and he will not allow Ayato to fail.  Some would see this as a act of kindness, and given the circumstances, it was the best move for Hugo to make so the two of them remained blended into the crowd -- although, that's not what happened in the end :/.  But...there is the matter of coddling Ayato and controlling Ayato rather that letting Ayato find his/her own way.

What's going on with Ayato being so self-conscious while Hugo's watching?  I suppose, in general, Ayato feels that Hugo has trifled with him/her way too much.  I wonder whether Ayato considers his/her failure as a greater sign of weakness in Hugo's eyes or is Ayato actually trying to act impressive now that Hugo is watching...or...is it just girlish embarrassment in front of someone he/she likes?

And then there's Hugo...Is he just sizing up Sui?  Is he jealous that Sui is showing Ayato how to shoot and they are having fun?  In the next chapter are Hugo and Sui going to have a confrontation?  My gut feeling is that Hugo is the type to shoot a smug chuckle over at Ayato and do a little wave goodbye as he leaves the gym.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Next up!
Next up is the Ghost Apartment Manager chapter 5!

Magnolia Chapter 10 -- Beefcake! Beefcake!

I suspect after this chapter, Sui is going to gain some new fans.  I didn't expect to see a different side of Sui, so this chapter was a happy surprise and I heap praise upon Naked Ape for developing Sui this way.

Oh!  And thanks to Ichigo Stars for help with the title page!
Links to Magnolia Chapter 10:  (Zip) (PDF)
Spoiler Alert!  Spoilers Ahead!
My Thoughts on this Chapter:
Sui...oh my...so, can we also have the side series "Sui" or maybe just a short omake?  So...why can Ayato abdicate so Sui can be king?  What's going on with that?  Anyhow, I look forward to learning more about Sui.

This chapter made me laugh hysterically.  I kept thinking "Beefcake! Beefcake!"  The gap between Ayato and Sui is vast.  Ayato should just give up and be a girl.  Where's Hugo?  Surely he's got to show up sweaty and bare-chested, preferably chopping wood or something along those lines.  It would be a beautiful cliched moment!  Buwhahahaha!!!

Next up is Yukarism chapter 5.  I promise the chapter will be o.0

Magnolia Chapter 9

It's been a busy past few days.  First a planned real-life thing happened and then an unplanned family emergency happened.  Fortunately, all is well and life is back to normal.  Anyhow, here is "Magnolia" chapter 9.  There's a nice little flashback in the beginning that confirms many of our suspicions and then we get on to fun with Hollier.  Hopefully those people who were initially put off by Hollier will warm up to her by the end of this chapter.  She's good girl with good intentions.  And now the links:

Links to "Magnolia" Chapter 9: (Zip) (PDF -- tablets and mobile)

Spoiler Alert!  Spoilers Ahead!
My Thoughts on the Chapter:

Hugo seriously needs to change his tactics regardless of his goal.  I don't think uncontrollably pouncing upon Ayato is scoring any points.  A little self-restraint would be nice.  He is a soldier after all.  Perhaps he should try talking to Ayato over lunch or something.  Talking is good.  It helps to build a trust relationship.  If Hugo continues down this path, Ayato will be on the look out and won't go anywhere near him.

Hollier!  She's a sweetheart, but I fear she's destined for a broken heart along with Nagi.  I hope all the Hollier-haters will give her character a second chance after this chapter.  Hollier's cute!

Nagi!  Fight, Nagi! Fight!  I want to huggles him so much!  What an awful position to be put into!  I hope he explains the situation to Ayato and that Ayato understands and is gentle to poor Nagi.  Nagi...T_T

Next up is "Yukarism" chapter 4.

A reminder about J+K:  Shouoto-sensei is talking a month off from J+K, so chapter 10 will not be released in Japanese until late May.  Because chapter 9 has a nasty cliffhanger and chapter 8 does not, I've decided to do a double release of Chapter 9 and 10 during late May/early June to save us all the pain of waiting two months after a nasty cliff hanger.

Magnolia Chapter 8

Whoo-hoo!  It's "Magnolia" Chapter 8!  But first I must make a sales pitch for the first volume of "Magnolia" which goes on sale in Japan on March 7th.

Links to purchase "Magnolia" Volume 1:

If you love the series "Magnolia", then plunk down a few bucks and show Naked Ape some love so they can continue this wonderful series for us :).  I've already ordered my copy of Magnolia and the other Aria series we translate and I will share what the books are like when they arrive next week (They should arrive at my door on the 8th or 9th).

Now back to the chapter.  This is another short chapter, but it's an important one.  Our poor little lamb Nagi, suffers some more and we get more of a sense of Hollier Clive.

Links to "Magnolia" Chapter 8:  (Zip) (PDF)

Warning:  Spoilers Ahead!
My thoughts on the Chapter:

Hollier Clive isn't exactly an original character, but she's funny nonetheless.  I wonder if this is the last we will see of her or will she be a pesky fangirl annoyance that pops up once in a while like Renge did in "Ouran".

Nagi:   My poor, poor, agonizing little lamb!  He's in such an unenviable position.  Should he choose to go back to Ayato side, he has to fight himself off as well as everyone else off of Ayato.  Plus, he has the question of whether any of what he feels for Ayato is real or just the effects of the Magnolia smell.  I can't imagine Nagi abandoning Ayato now that he understands the situation.  Above duty, isn't Ayato Nagi's best friend?  I wonder, though, is Nagi going to fully explain the situation to Ayato and whether he will tell Yugo about it to convince Yugo that he's under an intoxicating spell in order to drive Yugo away.

Yugo:  *GRINZ*  I adore Yugo even more.  He looks so smitten with Ayato in this chapter and the bear-huggles moment is so perfect! :3  Yes, yes, I definitely approve.  Bear-hugs are the best!  It seemed at the end of the chapter, judging from their expressions, that Yugo and Ayato had come to some realization.  I'm anxious for chapter 9 to learn what they have to say to each other.  I also want to see what happens when Nagi comes back and finds them together.

There's no follow-up to Lily's situation with Saiga in this chapter.  I wonder if that's going to be mostly covered in the next chapter of "Lily" due out at the end of June.

And now the anxiety builds again as we all wait a month for chapter 9...sigh...
