Magnolia Chapter 23

For those of you who hate Hugo, this chapter is going to suck. I love Hugo, so I thought this was a very romantic chapter. Hahaha! Unfortunately, we are left at the end with a nasty cliff hanger and the cruel news that the mangaka are skipping the next issue in order to collect material to continue the series.  But! Lily chapter 4 is coming out in Itan on the 25th, so we will have a Magnolia related chapter in July!  Hooray! That should ease the pain of waiting.

OS News!
We are working out plans for the next 6 months.  Since one-shots are popular with readers and the group members we are going move to a schedule format that alternates monthly between series focus and one-shot focus.  Regardless, each month we will release a chapter of Magnolia/Lily, AnS (starting in Septemeber, unless it gets licensed), and Rex Fabula.  The rest will be variable. This way we should be able to integrate the color Lalas and the other one-shots we've been wanting to do, while keeping up with our series.

I will be announcing the one-shot themes soon, along with other plans as they come together.

Next up! Will be one-shots from Kuro Lala and Shiro Lala and the first chapter of the short series "Pochama ni".

Actually, this is a special and thoughtful series, and I'm looking forward to translating it.  Haha! It takes a pretty special first chapter to make me want to take on something of unknown length...

I'm Thinking of Merging Bakeneko's Lair back into Omari's Sister

I created Bakeneko's Lair so we could keep some of the more mature and shounen titles away from Omari's Sister.  As a few people warned me, it is a bit more difficult to run two separate blogs.  My feeling so far is the only series I want to keep separate from Omari's Sister is "Servamp" because at times it is quite violent and gory.  "Kemono Kingdom: Zoo" is quite low key, "Seigi no Mikata" has some cussing and innuendo that will fly over the heads of the inexperienced, and "Rex Fabula" doesn't have anything more gory in it than some of the Kuro Lala one-shots, though one of the monsters has a "nice rack".  I'm thinking of moving these three series to Omari's Sister and leaving "Servamp" at Bakeneko's Lair to keep it separate and also to reserve the alternate blog for some mature series  (straight up 16+) from Itan magazine I've had my eye on. 

I'd appreciate it if you'd give me your opinion on the matter.  If there aren't too many objections, then the migration could begin today.

Getting Back on Track

As some of you may know, April was a rough month for me. My new job wasn't going so well which made real life miserable, depressing, tiring and demotivating. I have freed myself of that job and I'm now back on the job market. Hopefully, the next job I accept will be much better.  For now, though, I will be getting back on track with Omari's Sister and catching up on our releases.  Needless to say, I've regained my spirit and I'm eager to get going on OS activities and a new job search!

With the remaining days in April, we will be releasing "Magnolia" Chp 21, "Servamp" Chp 2 on Bakeneko's Lair, and a special one-shot.

I realize it's been over a week since our last release, but trust me, we're all working hard on various releases.  We just had nothing that could be finished right away after Yukarism.  Next week, though, we should start releasing a bunch of projects. Here what we got on deck for April:

• One-Shot: "Sekai de Utsukushii Namae" ("The World's Most Beautiful Name") by Yuu Toyota

There are a few other projects that could get done, but I'm going to be conservative because I lost last week due to real-life stress.

February at Omari's Sister -- Going into a Transition Period

As some of you may know, I am finally leaving the ranks of the unemployed and will be working full-time once again as an engineer at the end of the month.  I'm sorry, but I won't reveal where I'll be working, but I'll say it's such an appropriate job that it's kinda scary.  I'm very much looking forward to getting started, and I have no doubt that what I do at my new job will touch a great many of you.


Because of my job, I will not be able to dedicate as much time to Omari's Sister as I have in the past.  This means that I will have to rely more on the group to do translation and typesetting.  This is hard for me to give up, but in order for the group to continue at nearly the release pace, it's something I will have to do.  This means for a few months will we have a diminished release schedule until we figure out how best to distribute the work.  This also means that we will not be able to get series out days after they release in Japan.  If you have some skills that you think the group could use, please don't hesitate to contact me.  We will need all the help we can get moving forward. We will also not be dropping any series, though, some may go on hiatus with the intention of resuming them once another series has ended.

Moving onto February, "Detarame Mousouryoku Opera" took a week longer to complete than I thought it would, so the February plans are already wrecked.  In addition, I've had a lot to do to a lot of errands in preparation for taking the job at the end of the month.  I'm working on a new schedule for the rest of February through April.

Anyhow...here's what I know we can release this month:

I do not provide raw manga.  If you e-mail me asking for a raw, you will get a reply telling you to buy the raw from Amazon JP or Yes Asia.  So please save yourself and me some time and support your favorite mangaka by purchasing your own raws for your group.

Update: Valentine's Special One-Shots

This year's theme will be "Delinquent Love Story"!  Considering the bunch of highly anticipated one-shots by our favorite mangaka that are going to be released in February, I've decided that we will only do one special Valentine's Day one-shot. And so our Valentine's Day one-shot will be "Heart Assassin" by Kakeru Sora.  The other two one-shots are begun, but we will not be able to finish them by Valentines Day because of:

• "Ojou-sama no Untenshu" Chapter 1
• "Magnolia" Chp 18 and Lily Chp 3
• The 60 page Bisco Hatori one-shot
• "Akagami no Shirayukihime" Chp 31
• The Akane Ogura One-shot

Akagami Update -- Situation Resolved

Update:
I have been contacted by the scanlator who did the Mangafox version and we are talking about having her help with AnS as a member of OS.  Hopefully, this will all work out. Anyhow...so here's the plan moving forward.  We will make AnS an active project again.  We will release our own version of chapter 29.  I'm debating whether to do chapter 29 this month or skip it and move onto chapter 30 and swing back around to chapter 29 when the tankoubon comes out.  

Anyhow, thank you are for your support.  Hopefully, we'll be able to work things out such that we have the best situation for AnS (short of it finally getting licensed -- dear Lord, please let a US publisher license this series!!!  UGH!!!!)

Update:  I'm not sure why the person released chapter 29 on Mangafox, but it sounds like he or she is not committed to the series.  Hopefully this person will talk to us, because if he or she wants to take over the series, I have no issue with it.  However, this leaves us in a weird situation.  I don't want to do duplicate work on the series.  If that person is, indeed, not committed to the series, then we will go ahead and finish chapter 29 and resume work on the series.

Recruitment:  WE NEED REDRAW ARTISTS!!!!

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are now ready to attack a new year.

I'm happy to have 2011 over with.  It's not that it was a bad year, it's more like I hope 2012 is a better year. Mostly, I would like the economy to come back so it will be easier to find a job.  I've pretty much accepted that I'm not going to get an engineering job like the one I used to have, but I'm still hopeful.  I would really like to get back into doing R&D for consumer electronics.

That said, let's get on to the business of January.  For the past 3 months we've been blowing out one-shots, so now it's time to catch up on our series.  We still have a few one-shots that are closed to being done, so we will release those as they are ready.  Here's what we have planned:

We are officially dropping "Pika Ichi".  Hopefully another group will pick it up quickly.  As of now I'm not interested in the rest of the story and there are other series that the group and I would like to work on.  I'm sorry to all the fans out there, but I promise we will bring you a new and fabulous series from Asuka that will make you forgive us 1000 times over.

Kuro Lala and Fall Spooky One-Shots Announcements!

Kuro Lala has arrived! It mostly contains supernatural one-shots.  There are also some starts to a series or two.  Needless to say, there's a lot of good content inside.  In light of our fall spooky theme, we will try to share as many of the one-shots I enjoyed as we can over the next 3 months.  Do do this special we will put some of our less popular series on hold.  "Magnolia", "Yukarism", "Fushigi no Maria-kun", and "The Ghost Apartment Manager" will not be affected.  The other series will be released every 6 - 8 weeks and we'll release multiple chapters at a time to catch up on the series.
