One-Shot: "The Most Beautiful Name in the World" by Yuu Toyota

At last, a release!!!  I can't believe that it's nearly been 2 weeks since we've released something.  It's not for lack of doing anything.  We've been quite busy.  I myself had to prep a couple of projects for lettering before I get to this one-shot and last week I was nearly useless because RL made me depressed and sleepy.

Anyhow, here's another one-shot from one of our favorite mangaka Yuu Toyota.  This one is a quite bittersweet unlike the other one-shots. Still it's a lovely story and fits very well with her other one-shots.

Next Up!  Continuing on with the historical romance, next up will be "Ojousama no Untenshu" Chp 2. Several projects are close to being completed so hopefully we'll be able to do a bunch of releases in the next 2 or 3 weeks. 

"Sekai no Hate no Sougen de" ("The Grassy Plain at the Edge of the World") by Keiko Ishihara

First of all, as you can see in the bottom left corner of the title page, "Ojousama no Untenshu" volume 2 will be available for purchase on March 5th.  Here's a link to pre-order it from Amazon JP.  I'll post links to other online stores once the book is actually released.

On to the one-shot!  This one-shot is rather subtle.  It took 3 readings for me to get the entirety of the message.  For those of you who find an anti-feminist message, I ask you to re-read the one-shot and chew on the end again.  This is more about influence being a barrier rather than gender.  That's not to say gender doesn't play a role, because it does play a big role.  Also, after you read through the first time, go back and read the first 3 pages again, for a big "aha" if you didn't get what was going on during your first reading.


This is a new one to add to my list favorite one-shots.  I love the story and the characters and the artwork is gorgeous.  I'll search Comic Holmes to see if there are more untranslated one-shots from Ishihara-sensei, though I only have magazines dating back to September 2007.  If she has many one-shots, hopefully, like our other favorite mangaka, she'll release a compilation of one-shots.  I'll keep an eye our for her work in the future.

Oh! A note for parents:  This one-shot has some partial female nudity.  This one-shot is recommended for people 13 and older.

Next up! 
This weekend I'll be working on AnS Chp 31 and the omake that came out this month.  Hopefully, I can release those by next Wednesday.  Within that time period, we may also release the latest one-shot from Nari Kusakawa.

Series Debut: "Fushigi no Maria-kun" Chp 1

 

At last!  Phew!  Getting this first chapter together was quite a struggle!  Every page had at lease one crazy redraw, so let's give praise and thanks to Silver Lunar, Ichigo Stars, and Kumiko for working so hard to get this release done!  Here's a quick summary from the inner flap:

"Ordinary high school girl, Nanami Tokuko’s childhood friend,

Abe Maria, is the world’s last pureblood vampire!!  For 10 years,

I don't know if we will be able to release this series on a monthly basis given the difficultly and the number of redraws in each chapter.  We will do our best to release a chapter every 4 - 6 weeks.  If you are a person with some serious Photoshop skillz (drawing and clone stamping) who could lend us a hand with this series, that would help a lot to keep us on track.  Please use the contact link in the menu bar to contact me.

One-Shot: "Billy Bocchan no Yuuutsu" by Yumi Kiiro

 

We and TZA have been working on this one-shot for months!  I was beginning to think we'd never get this one out ;p.  But, yay!  We're finally done!

The male lead character, Billy, reminds me a lot of "Tamaki" from "Ouran High School Host Club".  I'm finding that this kind of character is VERY common -- almost too common.  Haha! On to the links!

One-shot: "The Honeybee Earl and the Flower Dress"

 

I readily admit that this one-shot is a beyond cliched Cinderella story (the title page pretty much tells the entire story), but it's done extremely well so all is forgiven.  Actually, I enjoyed this one-shot A LOT.  It filled the hole for a good summer romance comedy (damn you, Hollywood, make us some good summer movies!).  Anyhow, there are no surprises here and it all ends with the lovely little bow, as it should.  Yes, it's perfect for the June wedding season :).

More thoughts on this one-shot:

Virgil and Dahlia remind me of Tamaki and Haruhi, but set in an alternate universe.  I like how this one-shot stayed sharply focused on the relationship between Dahlia and Virgil and I like the gentle message about birth right versus merit.

Oh!  And Dahlias!  I saw a lot of them in the Floral Contest at the San Diego County fair.  Dahlias come in a surprising variety of shapes and sizes.  Here's are some of the pictures I took of dahlias at the fair:

 (This one is my favorite!  It looks like a cartoon flower.  Amazing, isn't it?)

One-Shot: "Blue Rhapsodia"

It feels like it's been forever since a release!  UGH!!  Lala DX arrived 2-days later than expected, so I spent the time waiting working on other projects.  This means we will have a bunch of releases coming in rapid succession.

Anyhow...here is the latest adventure from Ogura Akane!  It's about pirates so I'm quite pleased and had a lot of fun with the translation.  It sounds like this may be Ogura-sensei's next series -- or so I hope :).

One-Shot: "Vahlia's Bridegroom"

The wait is finally over!  Here is Akisuki Sorata's AnS companion one-shot "Vahlia's Bridegroom".  This was a joint project between Omari's Sister and The Zero Alliance.  Here's a short summary of the story from our partner on this project:

Jiru and Vahlia were engaged. But Jiru suddenly went missing! Four years later, Vahlia was betrothed to another man.  During the night of the celebration of her second engagement, Vahlia decides to go on a journey…. in search of Jiru!

Valentine's Day Special One-Shot: "Ginrou no Sakura"

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!


This was a big group effort to complete.  Nearly every page had a complicated redraw and I want to thank the Kumiko, Ichigo Stars, and Silver Lunar for taking on and conquering the challenge this one-shot presented.

Winter One-Shot #2: "His and Her Sleepless Winter"

Here is the second of our winter one-shots, "Kare to Kanojo no Futomin" or "His and Her Sleepless Winter".  I really like this story and I wish I saved it for Valentine's Day, because I don't think the one-shot I've selected can compare in sweetness and romance.  I guess we'll have to wait and see :).  "Ginrou no Sakura" has a completely different set of "charm points" and will appeal for different reasons than this one-shot.  Getting out of the weeds and back to the story at hand:
